Hi 👋! This is The Running Ginger: Marta, a runner, writer and literature junkie, software engineer and passionate traveller! 🏃‍♀️ 👩‍🦰 📚 🤓 🌎

I started running with my father when I was little. Since then I have finished all the World Marathon Majors (some of them under 4 hours), a Half Marathon in every Continent, and multiple distances in 63 countries.

I have run along very special places like the River Congo in DRC, the deserts in Petra and Saudi Arabia, the ice cap in Greenland, Lake Tanganika in Burundi, a Frozen lake in Norway, Lake Abbe in Djibouti, a Volcano´s crater in Iceland, Ivalo National Park in Madagascar, Santa Claus Village in Lapland or King George Island in Antarctica.

In these last three races I crossed the finish line as first female overall in the Half Marathon 🥇🥇🥇!

In this blog I post about my running experiences when travelling, and combine it with my love for literature (with one special book 📙 for every special run), as well as travel tips and trip recommendations based on my experience.

When I am not running somewhere around the world, I love to write and read. From Agatha Christie to Paul Bowles, from Arturo Pérez Reverte to Merçè Rodoreda, from Karen Blixen to James Clavell.

I have enjoyed visiting the 7 Wonders of the World, running in some of them:

Football is a family’s passion and I have followed the tradition and been in the last 7 FIFA World Cups ⚽, also running in there!

More posts coming!

Running with me it’s my partner-in-crime Roger, also a software engineer, who describes himself as somebody who is “running against his will”.

Despite what the argues, Roger has also completed all the World Marathon Majors, a Half Marathon in every Continent, and multiple distances in 63 countries.

He is bound to keep asking: “Do we need to go, really?”

Roger’s numbers:

  • 🏅 Marathon PB: 4h 08m (Barcelona Marathon 2015)
  • 🏅 Half Marathon PB: 1h 47m (London 2014)
