Julio 2023<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cuando corres en Singapur crees estar en una pel\u00edcula de ciencia ficci\u00f3n, por la exuberancia de su flora, como la de un planeta imaginario, y la verticalidad acristalada de sus modernos edificios.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong>\ud83c\udf0d<\/strong><\/strong> <strong>El viaje<\/strong> \ud83d\udcf7 <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>De Changi a la Marina<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Tomamos un taxi desde el aeropuerto de Changi. Desde siempre, he asociado el nombre Changi con la <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Changi_Prison\">prisi\u00f3n<\/a> y el infame campo de prisioneros de guerra durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial. Durante el camino vimos grandes \u00e1rboles tropicales y muchos edificios residenciales de m\u00e1s de treinta pisos de altura. Eran modernos pero impersonales, y sus colores parec\u00edan una extensi\u00f3n del cielo azul\u00edsimo y lleno de nubes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>De hecho, la autopista est\u00e1 expresamente <a href=\"https:\/\/mothership.sg\/2017\/12\/singapore-ecp-expressway-design-impress-ceos\/\">dise\u00f1ada para impresionar<\/a> el visitante. En la zona hay dos hoteles muy famosos. Terminamos refugi\u00e1ndonos en el centro comercial de Marina Sands Bay, totalmente climatizado. Dentro del centro comercial hab\u00eda familias bien vestidas disfrutando de batidos y helados, o remando en el r\u00edo falso que serpenteaba entre tiendas de lujo.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote has-small-font-size is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Vivir en Singapur era libre y el comercio tambi\u00e9n deb\u00eda seguir siendo libre. Sin control gubernamental, sin intromisiones de las autoridades. Porque s\u00f3lo el libre comercio era lucrativo, particularmente en ese rinc\u00f3n del mundo donde compet\u00edan varios puertos.<\/p>\n<cite><em>Sobre Singapur en 1860, \u201cLa \u00e9poca de las orqu\u00eddeas silvestres\u201d, por Nicole C. Y este es el d\u00eda que tienen libre los sirvientes, como nos explic\u00f3 nuestro taxista.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vimos multitudes de personas vestidas con <em>saris <\/em>o los birmanos <em>longyis <\/em>disfrutando de picnics improvisados bajo los puentes. En julio termina la estaci\u00f3n seca. Y nuestra visita se convirti\u00f3 en una especie de met\u00e1fora. Porque empezamos el d\u00eda con un sol abrasador y lo terminamos con tormenta. Una raci\u00f3n puede contener hasta 90 g de carbohidratos, procedentes principalmente del arroz, que se cocina en caldo de pollo y suele contener grasa de pollo y arom\u00e1ticos como ajo y jengibre. Puedes correr m\u00e1s de doce kil\u00f3metros, o unos ocho y tantos si no llegas a la zona del Estadio Nacional, que es lo que hicimos nosotros.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lo que no hab\u00edamos contado... \u00a1era el sofocante clima tropical de Singapur en julio!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote has-small-font-size is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Abajo, en los muelles, durante la larga y calurosa ma\u00f1ana y la tarde m\u00e1s larga y calurosa, sudamos limpiando escombros. Sudado por el calor del sol, pero sudado a\u00fan m\u00e1s por el nerviosismo al pensar en lo que traer\u00eda la noche.<\/p>\n<cite><em>\u201cMorir\u00e1s en Singapur\u201d, Charles McCormac<\/em><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">La ruta<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>A las 10 de la ma\u00f1ana, cuando salimos a caminar para explorar la ruta, el sol ya era implacable y la humedad hac\u00eda muy, pero que muy dif\u00edcil correr. No sab\u00edamos si lograr\u00edamos correr m\u00e1s tarde. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pero las estrellas se alinearon y, cerca del mediod\u00eda, comenzaron a sonar truenos, se nubl\u00f3 y de repente\u2026 \u00a1hubo tormenta! Quieres saber el destino no s\u00f3lo de los personajes principales, sino tambi\u00e9n de sus hijos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lo que m\u00e1s me gust\u00f3 es el entorno maravilloso y los detalles hist\u00f3ricos, que no se introducen de forma forzada. Se trata de una historia \u00e9pica y rom\u00e1ntica que tiene como principal protagonista el Singapur de mediados del siglo XIX, cuando la ciudad, muy joven, empezaba a ser \u201cla puerta a los
