Con un sult\u00e1n riqu\u00edsimo, dinero procedente del petr\u00f3leo, oro y m\u00e1rmol por doquier, pero tambi\u00e9n cocodrilos \ud83d\udc0a y selvas tropicales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Y tuvimos la oportunidad de correr una ruta de 6 kil\u00f3metros por la tarde, con vistas espectaculares al pueblo flotante m\u00e1s grande del mundo y a la c\u00fapula dorada de la mezquita del sult\u00e1n Omar Ali Saifuddin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>TLDR; \u201cdemasiado largo, no lo le\u00ed\u201d<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u00a1Solo quiero correr! En el pasado gobern\u00f3 vastas extensiones de las islas circundantes antes de convertirse en protectorado brit\u00e1nico durante el siglo XIX para proteger sus fronteras menguantes. \ud83d\udcd6 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El descubrimiento de enormes reservas de petr\u00f3leo en la d\u00e9cada de 1920 transform\u00f3 a la naci\u00f3n, de un remanso de paz a uno de los estados soberanos m\u00e1s ricos. \ud83c\udfdb\ufe0f Caminar por la capital me hizo sentir como si estuviera transitando entre un profundo pasado colonial y un futuro brillante construido sobre el oro negro. \ud83d\udee2\ufe0f<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Alma \u00fanica del Sultanato<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Brun\u00e9i es una estricta monarqu\u00eda isl\u00e1mica malaya donde el sult\u00e1n es a la vez el l\u00edder pol\u00edtico y la figura religiosa m\u00e1s respetada. Llegamos a la frontera antes de las 9 de la ma\u00f1ana, cuando ya hac\u00eda bastante calor, y continuamos hacia la capital, <strong>Bandar Seri Begawan <\/strong>(o Bandar para abreviar).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El \u00fanico problema son las largas colas en la frontera\u2026 como pudimos comprobar. \u00a1M\u00e1s de una hora para pasar! \ud83d\ude30<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pero, despu\u00e9s de eso, solo se tarda una hora y media en llegar a la capital, \u00a1y b\u00e1sicamente est\u00e1s cruzando todo el pa\u00eds! \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Brunei tiene 10 veces el tama\u00f1o de Singapur (les gusta decirlo \ud83d\ude04), pero menos poblaci\u00f3n.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Monumento al barril n\u00famero mil millones<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Primero paramos en este monumento dedicado a\u2026 bueno, a la extracci\u00f3n de petr\u00f3leo \ud83d\ude05.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"577\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/the-running-ginger.blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/BruneiHighlights-10-577x1024.jpeg\" alt=\"Highlights of Bandar Seri Begawan, capital of Brunei, in 2026. Tiene monolitos con im\u00e1genes de plataformas petrol\u00edferas y barriles de gasolina, e informaci\u00f3n sobre el primer pozo, excavado por la British Petroleum Company en 1929.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nuestro gu\u00eda malasio, Andy, nos explic\u00f3 que ahora solo opera Shell en Brunei.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En el mapa se indicaban las plataformas petrol\u00edferas cercanas en alta mar (a una distancia de entre 24 y 70 km).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Afuera, vimos casas que pertenec\u00edan al personal de Shell y, a pocos metros (38 para ser exactos), un pozo que operaba las 24 horas del d\u00eda, los 7 d\u00edas de la semana. Y luego, una refiner\u00eda de Shell. Obviamente \ud83d\ude04<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Joan, nuestra gu\u00eda local<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Luego paramos para contratar a una gu\u00eda local, ya que Brun\u00e9i es bastante estricto y los gu\u00edas deben tener licencia. Se llamaba Joan y era muy amable. Nos explic\u00f3 muchas cosas, como que la especialidad local es el Kek Batik, un postre o pastel, pero no demasiado dulce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tambi\u00e9n nos habl\u00f3 de los turistas chinos, \u00a1que \u00faltimamente vienen en cantidades enormes! El d\u00eda anterior llegaron 50 autobuses, es decir, 2000 personas, al mismo tiempo; llegaron en crucero. \u00a1Incre\u00edble!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Y muchos datos sobre el pa\u00eds; por ejemplo, no hay impuesto sobre la renta. La gasolina es extremadamente barata y tienen muy buenas prestaciones sociales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a1Eso es porque es un para\u00edso del petr\u00f3leo crudo! \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>O que van a Miri a divertirse, comprar licor y gastar dinero; en Brunei todo cuesta el doble que en Malasia y es un pa\u00eds musulm\u00e1n conservador donde no se venden ni alcohol ni cigarrillos.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Mezquita Jame&#039; Asr Hassanil Bolkiah<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Por supuesto, lleva el nombre del sult\u00e1n \ud83d\ude04<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tuvimos que vestirnos con lo que parec\u00edan ser t\u00fanicas de &quot;Harry Potter&quot;, eran moradas. Tienen electricidad, comisar\u00eda, escuela\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vimos banderas de Brun\u00e9i y el tr\u00e1fico de taxis acu\u00e1ticos y embarcaciones privadas; \u00a1fue fascinante presenciarlo!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A menudo descrita como la \u201cVenecia de Oriente\u201d,\u201d <strong>Kampong Ayer<\/strong> Es un pueblo hist\u00f3rico sobre el agua donde miles de residentes viven en casas tradicionales sobre pilotes conectadas por una intrincada red de pasarelas de madera. Sin embargo, en 1975 un incendio destruy\u00f3 esta zona.
